Nirvana or Total Fearlessness

Thursday is governed by Jupiter which in turn governs our sacral chakra or swadhishthana.

Swadhishthana is the seat of our desires. When desires are not conscious we experience involuntary pull (what is called attachment), involuntary push (which is aggression) and neutral feelings (which is ignorance).

These unconscious desires are what forms a cycle of action-memory-desire. Meditation loosens the grip of the cycle and helps us go beyond by putting as in a state of allowing and receiving what we asked for.

The memory part of the cycle is what is called as samskaras and the action part as contaminated karmas.

To be fearless is to understand what's keeping us from expansion what's causing the samsara.

Samsara is caused by contaminated karmas and afflictions. Afflictions are further categorized as Afflictive emotions, Inappropriate attention and Self Grasping Ignorance (swadhishthana translates as the abode of the Self) which in turn is the root of all miseries.

Contaminated karmas arise from afflictions, afflictions arise from inappropriate attention and inappropriate attention arises from self-grasping ignoramce.

According to Je Tsongkhapa most of our virtuous karmas are contaminated virtuous karmas, the only exception being circumambulating stupas with holy relics like Piparhwa relics in New Delhi.

Nearby Swadhishthana is the Nabhi or Hara and is the point in the body where all 72.000 Nadis meet. When we chant A, the A reverberates from the Nabhi and it purifies the Nadis.

The Hara opens when we are confronted with danger. In Chinese the ideogram for crisis has two parts one is the ideogram for danger and the other is the ideogram for opportunity. In danger there is not time to think it over so we fall back to the navel, our original center, where snap decisions are needed to ensure survival.

That's why when kids grow up we need to encourage their explorations and not be overly protective because the navel center is developing.

Here is more on samskaras:
